On the Issues

Family security begins with a good job and a strong economy. As a successful small business owner and entrepreneur, Jane knows our government must stop rewarding businesses for sending our jobs overseas, invest in small and medium-sized businesses, stimulate research and development, and put Ohio back to work.

Jane believes that access to quality and affordable health care in America is not a privilege for the wealthy, but rather a right for all Americans. In Washington, she will work to ensure that all Americans have the quality health care that they and their families deserve.

As a small business owner and mother, Jane understands the obstacles that middle class families face on a daily basis. She knows that we must have tax system in America that rewards work rather than wealth. As a result, she will fight to provide for tax breaks for middle class families in Ohio, and for small and medium-sized businesses that have a vital role in fueling our economy with new jobs.

The War in Iraq was a mistake and we must bring our brave young men and women home in a way that is both responsible and safe. We must refocus our efforts from a military offensive to a diplomatic one, working to bring stability to the region while bringing our American heroes home. While some progress has been made by our brave servicemen and women, the Iraqis must take responsibility for their country and begin seeking long-term solutions among themselves.

Of every issue that she faces, there is none Jane is more passionate about than keeping our promises to our veterans. Jane's family has a long history of military service, and she will work hard to help our veterans receive the benefits they have earned in the service of our country. She will fight to stop the under-funding of veteran's services, including improving the quality and availability of health care.

Born and raised in Dayton, Jane understands the importance of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to our community and our nation. In Congress, she will fight for increased funding for the base to ensure that the top employer in the District remains strong and intact.

This year represents the first time the Wright Patterson area has been without a majority party voice in the House of Representatives since the Base Realignment and Closing process began. Jane will be a strong majority voice in Congress for our base.

Global climate change is real. Unfortunately, many Republicans in Congress are either unwilling to accept global warming as a reality or are too beholden to the powerful corporate interests that will do anything to discredit the idea that they have contributed to one of the most urgent problems facing our country today.

Returning to an America of opportunity means making sure affordable healthcare and a good education are rights, not privileges. As a mother, Jane knows education isn't just about teaching kids, it's about shaping lives. Jane will focus on giving teachers the resources they need, and pay in line with the importance of their work.
